What is The International?
The International (TI) is the annual Dota 2 World Championship organised by Valve Corporation, the game's developer. First held in 2011 with a then-unprecedented $1.6 million prize pool, TI rapidly became the most prestigious and richest tournament in all of esports — a title it has held ever since.
At its peak, The International's prize pool surpassed $40 million, fuelled by a crowd-funding model through the Battle Pass.
